The Washington Youth Academy is located in Bremerton, WA on the grounds of the Washington Army National Guard Readiness Center. The academy's campus, surrounded by stands of tall fir and Western Red Cedar trees, will incorporate a new 17,000 square foot administration/dormitory building, renovated existing facilities, and newly remodeled modular classroom buildings to create an attractive and more functional campus area.

The focus of the ROTC program is leadership development. Students learn problem solving techniques, decision-making skills, planning and organizing skills, interpersonal communications skills, professional ethics and responsibilities, and other management and leadership skills. Leadership labs and field training exercises supplement classroom work with practical leadership training and experience.

Eastern Washington University’s ROTC Program has ranked number one in the nation multiple times based on their excellence in leadership at Advanced Camp. The Military Science Department at EWU is part of the Army ROTC program. The Army ROTC is included as part of the Military Science curriculum. The program offers a four year curriculum in leadership, both theoretical and practical. Students learn the fundamentals of leadership and then progress through increasing leadership responsibilities in order to improve individual level of proficiency. Many other “Life Skills,” such as time management, oral and written communications, first aid and personal fitness as well as Adventure Training are also integrated into the program.

The Reserve Officer's Training Program (ROTC) at Spokane Community College is a pre-commissioning program for the United States Army. Students who finish the program and graduate from a four-year college or university will receive a commission and become an officer in the US Army, National Guard or Reserve Forces. Students who attend and complete ROTC courses receive regular college credits in addition to the credits received in the academic discipline of their choice. Army ROTC is a four-year program consisting of the Basic Course taken during the freshman and sophomore years and the Advanced Course taken during the junior and senior years of college.
