The University of Idaho offers a Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Program. The main goal of the NROTC  is to develop Midshipmen, Officer Candidates, and MECEPs.  Each Cadet must be prepared mentally, morally and physically to achieve the highest levels of honor, courage, and commitment.

Boise State University offers the Army ROTC as an elective program that goes hand in hand with the college curriculum. The Army ROTC is known as one of the best leadership training programs in the country. The program is filled with classes and field training where Cadets can learn primarily what it takes to be a leader, motivate others, and how to carry out missions as an Officer in the Army.

The Army ROTC program at Idaho State University is a voluntary course, for students who have the desire to become commissioned officers in the U.S. Army, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard. The program consists of military science classes, summer training events, and acquiring a bachelor's degree of choice.
